Located 8 kilometers Southeast of the City Hue, along the Perfume River, Tu Duc tomb is considered as one of the most beautiful and picturesque and largest works of architecture of Nguyen Dynasty’s royal palaces and tomb.

It was started building in December 1864 and accomplished in 1867. The surrounding wall inside the tomb has 12 hectares width and the tomb includes about 50 constructions with lakes, mounts, palaces, pavilions, temple, altars, etc. All construction have the word “ Khiem” in their name. Architectural features of Tu Duc tomb have poetry elements in free style. It was designed to blend with the natural setting of the landscape to achieve perfect People said that your trip to Hue would not be complete without seeing Tu Duc’s Tomb.

Tu Duc Tomb is not only famous for the most beautiful works, but it is also famous for romantic scenery of mounts and lakes. Then steps to Khiem Cung gate, you can see HoaKhiem palace. On the both sides are PhapKhiem House and Le Khiem House for the military and civil mandarins. Next to the Hoa Khiem Palace is Luy Khiem Palace, where was King’s resting place and also worship place of Tu Duc’s mother- Mrs. Tu Du. The Tomb are includes Honour Courtyard, the stele Pavilion and the seplucre.
